Daytona Beach Pier

Daytona Beach has put a lot of work into trying to revitalize their pier in the past couple years.  This picture was taken from the pier looking back at the boardwalk where they have added a ferris wheel, roller coaster and a go-cart track.  Behind me is the Joe's crab shack restaurant that is located over the ocean on the pier.  I haven't eaten there yet but it's on my list of places to go.

This picture happened to be taken on a Saturday night during Spring break last weekend.  Although the picture doesn't really show it, the boardwalk was packed that night.

Spring Break Nationals

Every year Daytona Beach hosts the Spring Break Nationals.  It's kind of a mix of car show and demonstration for the audio/video car technology manufacturers.  This was my first year going and it was a lot of fun.  Here are some shots of my favorite cars at the event.

Sunsets over the Halifax River

One of the best places to go around sunset in Ormond Beach is to the parks on the east side of the Granada bridge.  They have excellent walking trails, places to sit and places for kids to play.  I have been going there for years walking my dogs and over the past 3 years we have been taking my daughter so she can burn some energy and play at the park.  The sunsets are spectacular here and they are all different.  Here are 2 that I captured recently.

Farmers Market

In Daytona Beach, out at City Island Park, they have a great Farmer's Market every Saturday from 7:00-1:00.  They have local produce, food vendors, soaps, jewelry, etc at great prices.  Our good buy of the day was a pint of strawberries for $1.00.

#BikeWeek 2014 Continues

Well, the bikers have really lucked out with the weather this week.  It has been mostly in the mid 70's and sunny with the exception of Weds which was in the 60's and rained a bit.  The final weekend is scheduled to be 75 - 79 degrees and sunny!  Perfect ending to a beautiful week.  Here are a few more pictures from the event.

Bike Week 2014 Pictures

Well, Bike Week is here again!  Here are a few shots from the first weekend of Bike Week.  These were all taken on Beach Street in Daytona Beach down by the old location of Harley Davidson.  Enjoy!

Color Vibe 5K in Daytona Beach

Here are a few photos from the 5K run this past weekend in Daytona Beach at City Island Park.  It was a beautiful sunny day about 65 degrees when the "race" started.  For those of you that don't know what a color race is -- you run (or walk) through different color stations where people throw hand fulls of colored powder on you.  By the end of the race you look like you lost a grueling fight with a rainbow.

Here are a few photos from the after race concert.  Every couple minutes they had a count down and then blanketed the audience with more color.

It's not exactly my style but it was fun to watch.  My wife and her friend ran in it this year.  Here's a picture of my wife's hair when she got home.
